I spent the last few days at a conference in Kinross. The weekend was jam packed: lectures, discussions, activities, and total freedom from the internet.
Admittedly, it wasn’t easy to leave my MacBook all alone at home, perhaps a sign that technology has grafted itself way too powerfully into my life!
Goodbye Facebook, so long Gmail. I had a handful of emails I needed to reply to, but for once I felt able to forget about them for the weekend…
Alas, due to my impulse buy of a Blackberry it is no longer possibleto simply leave everything behind. I had not even been at the conference for an hour as my eye was drawn to the little red light pulsing; five emails, seven Facebook notifications, one phone call, and ten text messages later, I realised that a technology-free weekend is very difficult to come by!

                                                        Sevenly “Do Good”
On the back of my phone is a big green sticker reading “WORLD CHANGE IS HOW I ROLL,” introducing you to my current favourite organisation and website, sevenly.org.
Supporting a different charity each week, the American organisation design a T-shirt for people to buy online with a portion of the cost going towards the charity. From Tweeting support to ‘liking’ the weekly video, Sevenly relies heavily on social media to be successful.
I tried (unsuccessfully) to flee technology this weekend, but there’s no denying that it can make a world of difference to thousands in need.

Celebrating 6th months of marriage today. Congratulations Anna and David Fleck!!
